1. What is colon hydrotherapy?
Colon hydrotherapy, or colonic irrigation, is a gentle and effective procedure that uses warm, purified water to cleanse the colon. This process helps remove gas, waste, and toxins, promoting overall digestive health and wellness.

2. How does the procedure work?
At Radiate Wellness, we use the Woods Gravitational Method for all colonic sessions. This type of colon hydrotherapy equipment uses the natural force of gravity to introduce water into the colon. Here’s how it works:

  • Setup: The system consists of a gravity-fed tank filled with highly filtered, body-temperature water. The tank is elevated above the client’s body to allow gravity to facilitate water flow.

  • Water Introduction: Your hydrotherapist will insert a small, lubricated tube into your rectum. Warm, filtered water is then gently introduced into the colon. The elevated tank allows water to flow through the tube and into the colon at a controlled rate, allowing for a comfortable and gentle process. As the warm water enters the colon, it helps to soften and loosen accumulated waste and toxins.

  • Natural Expulsion: The water, along with gas and waste material, is expelled through the exhaust tube, assisted by your own body’s natural urge to eliminate. This method allows for a more organic and gentle cleansing experience, which exercises your body’s peristaltic contractions, strengthening your bowel and promoting your ability to have bowel movements on your own.

Sessions typically last between 45 minutes to an hour.

During your first visit, we’ll begin with a thorough consultation to understand your health history and goals. The session itself is easy and relaxing. You may experience some pressure and cramping as the water is introduced and your body begins to release gas and waste matter, though this is not painful. You are encouraged to relax Many clients report feeling lighter and more energized afterward.

7. Are there any side effects?
Most people experience no side effects, though some may feel mild cramping or bloating during the session. It's common to feel more energetic and lighter afterward. It is also normal to feel the urge to use the bathroom more often that usual in the next 24-48 hours after your session. This is a good thing! Your body is continuing to expel remaining waste.
